We came upon wyzant on a google search and had never heard of it before. My 9th grade son is in his first semester of Spanish and having a difficult time understanding the language. Holly was the first tutor who popped up in our area for Spanish Tutors. She was the most expensive, but I figured if she costs a little bit more she is probably worth it. Holly responded to my email very promptly and was very accommodating with days/times since my son is also in sports after school. She is highly professional, knowledgeable and personable. After my son's first lesson he immediately gained confidence he never had in regard to Spanish. It has been such a wonderful transformation to see him change. I owe this all to Holly and her ability to communicate with my teenager and bring a different perspective on Spanish that his teacher has. Holly is wonderful and worth ever dollar! And believe it or not, my son now looks forward to his tutoring sessions. Thanks Holly!!!
Holly W. is a professional, prepared, and personable tutor. She introduced cultural resources and invested abundant energy to try and motivate an indifferent student – my son. She communicated well with me about each session and her concerns with my son’s lack of effort. She tried many different approaches to try to engage him in learning Spanish. In the end she concluded it was not working.
Holly’s enthusiasm and abilities would best be matched with a student who is invested in learning Spanish.
Holly has provided exceptional tutoring for my daughter. My daughter felt very nervous about participating in class last year. This year, with the confidence Holly has given her, she is feeling great, loves class and is doing well on exams. Holly has given her not only the confidence she needed but also the love of the language. Holly has also been very flexible with times since my daughter soccer schedule is so tight. Thank you so much Holly.
Our daughter was struggling in her high school Spanish class. With Holly's help, she surpassed everyone's expectations. I'm a teacher, so I know the field. Holly knows her subject, knows how to teach, and works well with students. We Highly Recommend her! Thank you, Holly!!
Our 7th grade son had always wanted to learn Spanish but the program was full at his middle school. We were told he would have no opportunity to enroll in a Spanish class until high school. It was a huge disappointment. Then we found Holly through WyzAnt. Holly has taught Spanish to our son now for almost a year. She is kind and patient, finds engaging projects for them to work on, and is understanding of our son's needs and our schedule. We feel so fortunate to have found Holly - she is a perfect fit for our family.
We have found Holly to be a wonderful tutor. We began using her after my son's sophomore year in high school (he is now a senior) and she has made a significant difference in his performance in Spanish. She takes the job very personally, and my son looks forward to her visits. Her enthusiasm and energy is contagious. I recommend Holly without qualification.
I was in a panic to find a last minute Spanish tutor for my 9th grade son going into finals week. It was a Saturday and all I had was the internet. I googled "Spanish Tutors for the Seattle area." Yeah, right....." I thought,"fat chance." I did not believe I would find anyone on such short notice. But we hit the JACKPOT with Holly and WyzAnt!
I was able to read Holly's bio among several bios of qualified tutors, see her picture and get a good sense of her impressive Spanish experience. It is also a benefit to go through WyzAnt because they do a background check before putting tutors on their website. Safety is very important when leaving my child with someone new.
I received a phone call from Holly later that day and she was available on a Sunday for 3 HOURS!! Amazing! She arrived on time to our home, was very professional, and hit it off immediately with my son; they proceeded to hit the books for the next 3 hours. She was incredible. I would not hesitate booking Holly for your next Spanish tutoring session--she's 'A+' all the way around. We feel very fortunate to have found Holly and WyzAnt, and look forward to working with her for the indefinite future as my son winds his way through high school Spanish!
Holly is full of energy, very creative, has lots of patience and is a great teacher. We look forward to our lessons and the hour flies by. She has given us many ideas and different ways to learn and is excited about her subject. My daughter and I have had 5 lessons so far, and will keep going. She has such a positive attitude and is very encouraging. Thank you Holly!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The abilities to read, write, comprehend and demonstrate critical analysis are essential to achieving success in all liberal arts subjects that require English proficiency.
