I am passionate about giving high school and college students the skills they need to grow "from good to great" in mathematics. For 13 years, I have been doing this in the Buckley and Bonney Lake area where I live and in the White River School District where I am fairly well known. I am the administrator and a volunteer tutor for a tutoring group in Buckley. For 13 years, I have been doing this in the Buckley and Bonney Lake area where I live and in the White River School District where I am fairly well known. I am the administrator and a volunteer tutor for a tutoring group in Buckley. With the advent of COVID-19, all of my tutoring is online using the Wyzant platform (white board) and my document camera at home with shared screen. Very powerful and effective combination!

If you earned high C's or solid B's in math and now you're mystified by some of the new stuff in calculus and precalculus, or if you're baffled by how much algebra and geometry you forgot during the summer (or during those years when you didn't take any math courses at all), then I'm your man.

I am great at "demystifying" some awful words like "limits" (in Calculus), "logarithms" (in Pre-calc), "complete the square" (in Algebra 2), and "solve", "simplify", "graph", and "prove" in Algebra 1 and Geometry) .

Math can be fun and easy, and I can make it that way for you - with your participation and practice.

Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus is my favorite subject to teach and tutor. Calculus brings together everything you learned in Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Precalculus into a few elegant theorems and rules that enable you to solve seemingly impossible problems. I can teach you Calculus from beginning to end starting with Limits, Derivatives, Applications of Derivatives, Curve Sketching, Integrals, Integration Techniques, Areas of Rotation, Applications of Integration, and ending with Taylor & McLauren Series. Calculus can be fun and actually easy IF you pay attention from day one of your course, read all of the sections in your textbook (or online thread), and do all of your homework. Successful business managers, economists, scientists, engineers, biologists, chemists, and many other fields depend on Calculus - at least in part.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I can tutor you in PreCalculus (which is mostly Algebra 2 on steroids) from beginning to end starting with Polynomial and Rational Functions, Complex and Imaginary Numbers, Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Inverse Trig Functions, through Polar Coordinates and Conic Sections (Circles, Ellipses, Hyperbolas, and Parabolas). Most of my students are registered with an online Precalculus platform like WebAssign (or many others from their school) for homework assignments and tests plus sources like Kahn Academy to learn from their excellent lectures. We use school-provided assignments and practice tests to guide our online tutoring progress. Precalculus can be easy and can be fun; I try to make it that way for my students.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

In my experience, Trigonometry is frequently the last 2 chapters in a High School Algebra 2 text book and is usually taught in April and May to Juniors and Seniors suffering from "spring fever" or "senioritis". So, on we go to Precalculus (and from PreCcalc on to Calculus) - without a solid foundation in Trigonometry. My point is that regardless of whether you are an Algebra 2 student, or a PreCalc student, or a Calculus student, a solid foundation in Trigonometry is essential - and actually quite easy! I can tutor you (teach you) everything you need to know about Trigonometry in order to make you a successful student in A2, PC, or Calculus in a few sessions. Most of my students are registered with an online platform like WebAssign (or many others from their school) for homework assignments and tests plus sources like Kahn Academy to learn from their excellent lectures. A Great Teacher, Patient and Motivator.

Bob taught my son college algebra, my son was very happy with Bob's support, and in addition to his patience and motivation. I have clearly noticed the confidence that my son has in maths since he started taking tutoring lessons with Bob. His grade improved big time. Thanks, Bob for your support and patience.

Great Teacher

Bob took extra time to make sure I knew the material. I moved from a D- Fall semester to an A- over the summer in college Calculus. The sessions weren’t awkward. He’s easy to talk to and really knows calculus. He really cares about the students he’s teaching.

Great tutor

Bob's review of the Calculus AB-BC curriculum is methodical and engaging. His command of the subject enables him to provide perspective and scope to the specific area of study at hand.

Great tutor

Bob is very patient and encouraging. My daughter finds his lessons help her understand and complete her work. I would recommend him. He also has a very flexible schedule.

Bob is a really knowledgeable and patient person.

I like that he is not fast with explanations and he did not consider that my questions are silly. He is good at demonstrating relationships between graph and integral.

1st lesson was a great start. Looking forward to continuing the work. Bob took the time to listen to our concerns. Hopeful it will translate to confidence and improved grades.

Best teacher!!!

Bob H. is the best teacher he helped me to prepare for my exam for precalculus and understanding all the concepts that I was struggling with. Also, showed me easier ways to solve the equations.
