I graduated from the University of Minnesota with honors in 2016. I have a B.S. in Biology and authentic research experiences in a multitude of disciplines that shape my tutoring/ teaching style. At University, I studied marine symbioses, Galapagos National Park Guides' perceptions and acceptance of evolution, and how students learn biology. Through my research experiences, I have developed a passion for sharing science with members of the general public through teaching, outreach, and developing methods to increase equity in STEM disciplines. My teachers and research mentors have been the source of support, knowledge, and empowerment for me and I hope translate these qualities through my teaching.

I have a year's experience teaching at the University level. I taught introductory biology to students who were pursuing majors barring science (including biology). I guided students through complex biological topics (e.g. mitosis, evolution, central dogma) using reliable, active-learning techniques to make science relevant and comprehensible to a general audience. Though I taught classes of 24 students, I also held office hours in which I worked one-on-one with students to clarify concepts, provide homework help, and to help them develop effective test-taking strategies. I ensured that these students did not fall behind in class, often checking in on their progress in-class. Though short, my time as a teaching assistant allowed me to develop sensitivity for diverse perspectives, adaptability, and an ability to empower students. My diverse experiences have given me an intricate understanding of the challenges associated with STEM education as well as techniques to overcome these challenges; using these skills I am convinced that I can effectively help you or your student reach their academic goals.

I have a passion for seeing students succeed and always welcome input from students and parents. I am highly adaptable to student preferences. I am easy to reach and strive to provide quick responses. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule and appointment!

Math is among the most difficult subjects for students to comprehend to reach their academic goals. Fortunately, I have a strong understanding of Algebra and am excited to share my knowledge with students. I use Algebra 1 on a daily basis in my position as a research technician. I have also "aced" multiple high level math classes in University (Calculus 1, Statistics, Calculus and Dynamical Systems in Biology) which required a fundamental understanding of Algebra 1. The combination of these experiences makes me ideal to teach any student both the content and application of Algebra 1.

I have a B.S. in Biology in which I obtained educational in all biological disciplines including ecology, evolution, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, zoology, organic chemistry, and cellular biology. With my education, I have also performed authentic research on marine symbioses, evolution education, and STEM equity. My current position as a biologist researching plankton allows me to apply all my knowledge to contemporary questions in marine ecology and biogeochemistry. With a comprehensive understanding of all things biology and a passion for biology and education, I am highly qualified to teach any student!

If you want to know more about me or my tutoring experiences, or if you would like to schedule a tutoring session, please contact me! I am reliable and quick to respond. I look forward to tutoring you and helping you to achieve your academic goals!

Aside from graduating from the UMN with a B.S. in Biology, including education in Zoology, I have researched zoological phenomenon including symbioses between hermit crabs and cnidarians and plankton zoology. I currently work as a research technician classifying identification, diet, respiration, and productivity of marine protists to determine their impact on coastal ecosystems.
