B.A., University of California, Berkeley (Physics)
I've been a tutor for three years. I got my start tutoring at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, OR, where I worked in the tutoring center helping students with math, physics, chemistry, and writing. During my time at Chemeketa, I took a series of extra classes for tutors, overseen by the Chemeketa Tutoring Department and the College Learning and Reading Association, that certified me as a Master Tutor. I recently moved to California to attend UC Berkeley with a major in Physics. I plan on going on to get my PhD in physics and becoming a college professor. Teaching is the end goal for me, and helping students learn and grow is where my passion is.
I'm a pretty easy going tutor. I like to play and have fun while we're working and I'm always open to talking more about deep subject matter. I try and think of the simplest and more effective way to explain a concept and then go through examples. I am very flexible, and after a little time of getting to know you, I can make sure our sessions are effective and enjoyable for you. I've worked with hundreds of students, many of whom started out thinking that they couldn't do math or science, but through our sessions together have all improved immensely. I truly believe that anyone, with the proper effort and guidance, can learn any subject, so let me be your guide in the world of math and science!
I've tutored math for three years and have extensive experience in explaining core concepts from intermediate and advanced algebra to single and multi variable calculus.
I've taken the first year of General Chemistry and General Physics (with calc!), and have received A's in all those classes as well as strong letters of recommendation from my instructors to tutor those subjects.
Please feel free to contact me with questions. If you'd like to chat and get to know me a bit before signing up for a session, just go ahead and message me, I'd love to hear from you! So far we had only 1 lesson with Dustin, but my son liked his style and felt the session helped him master the subject better. Dustin is patient, explains well and makes sure the student understands the concept.
