Western Washington University (Linguistics)
My name is Carli. I am in my senior year at Western Washington University studying Linguistics and Spanish. I also have my certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages). The TESOL program at Western allowed me to work with international students from the Intensive English and Asia University America programs .For 9 months, I was also a volunteer at Whatcom Community College in Adult ESL and Adult Basic Education courses. This past summer, I spent 1 month in Queretaro, Mexico teaching English to middle school students of varying levels as a part of my teaching practicum. That experience affirmed my love of teaching, language, and travel. When I graduate in August, I hope to either goto Spain or return to Mexico to teach English. My goal is to one day speak in fluent Spanish.
My favorite part of teaching/tutoring is seeing students comprehend something new for the first time. It is very rewarding to know that I helped a student learn new information. I am excited for the prospect of tutoring and am confident that it will bring many rewarding experiences for me and the students! Hello there!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
