Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

My basketball experience began in Elementary School and continues to this day. As a Fifth Grader I was taller than most of my classmates. This inspired my teacher and the coach to ask me to join the team. As I developed my skills and experienced the thrill of competition I fell in love with the game. I played on my school team all through Junior High and High School. During two summers in High School I went to a week long basketball camp and further developed my skills and knowledge of the game. I was offered an opportunity to join a small college team after High School but a tour of military duty prevented from accepting the invitation. I continue to read about, study, and learn about the game. Learning the fundamental basic skills are the building blocks upon which future growth and success is built.

To this day I'm an avid student of the game and love to play any chance I get. Basketball provides a wonderful avenue of athletic competition that teaches teamwork, dedication, goal setting, and many other elements of success and good character. I believe that participating in team sports can be a significant opportunity for people of all ages to maintain physical fitness and enjoy the satisfaction of contributing to a team effort.

ESL/ESOL

My work at an international agency requires me to communicate with people all over the world has part of a multicultural team. I have a B.A. degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts.

During my time in college I tutored students from Japan, Korea, and the Marshall Islands. A three year tour of duty in the Army living in Germany gave me experience learning a different language and culture. I've been tutoring a young person from Italy attending Community College. I tutor the ESL students attending the ESL School at the international agency where I work.

Football

My football experience began in Elementary School and continues to this day. I was taller and heavier than most of my classmates. During PE class and recess I was always one of the first chosen by the team captains.
As I developed my skills and experienced the thrill of competition I learned to love the game more and more.
I played on my school team all through High School. Because my school was a small country school we played in an 8-man football league. This meant with fewer players than the normal 11 man team all team members played offense and defense. Playing both sides of the ball provided me a wonderful opportunity to develop offensive and defensive skills and a more complete knowledge of the game. I continue to study and learn about the game. Learning the fundamental basic skills are the building blocks upon which future growth and success is built.

To this day I'm an avid student of the game and love to play any chance I get. Using a Nerf football is a great way for younger people to learn the fundamentals as their physical capabilities develop. Football provides a wonderful avenue of athletic competition that teaches teamwork, dedication, goal setting, and many other elements of success and good character. I believe that participating in team sports can be a significant opportunity for people of all ages to help maintain physical fitness and experience the joy and thrill of competition.

General Computer

I have been using computers since 1988. The evolution of technology is astonishing. I am familiar with Office 2007, Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. l'm also familiar with Apple iLife, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
I use an Apple Macbook Pro for my personal computer and a PC with Windows 7 and Office 2007 at work.
With the constant change in technology it is imperative to stay informed and continue to learn and upgrade your computer skills. I work hard to stay current in PC Windows and Apple Mac software and hardware for my professional and personal development and growth.

Photography

I've been interested in photography all my life. With the advent of digital photography a whole new world of creative fun has been opened and waits to be explored. My photos have won awards in photo contests, are framed and hang on the walls of family and friends, and used by professional musicians on their blog.
The essential element to great photography is "how you see". Learning about art composition is a wonderful way to develop your "eye" and "way of seeing". Just as poet uses words and punctuation to create meaning and emotion a photographer Principles and Elements of Art Compostion such as color, balance, texture, and symmetry to do the same. With the entire world as your palette an amazing journey of creativity awaits you. Together we can work to develop your "way of seeing" and technical skills to realize your full artistic potential.

"Determined to help in understanding"

My tutor was accessible and more importantly, punctual. His easy manner and ability to understand the difficulty I was experiencing. Dean helped me through it in a way that made it possible for me to proceed, in a confident manner, accomplishing the necessary procedures. Dean was very helpful in walking me through the processes of both utilizing software provided with my camera, as well giving me
