As an Honors English major and a tutor with four years' experience, I have the communication skills and knowledge to help you succeed in your academic endeavors. I specialize in English, elementary through standardized tests, and I also have very strong math skills. I am very patient and I provide a positive learning environment with plenty of encouragement and space for reflection.
I intend to be a teacher after I graduate, and I approach my tutoring with professionalism. I expect to create individualized lesson plans for you, and this additional time on my part is included in my tutoring charge. However, my rate is up for negotiation, as I strongly believe that education should be accessible to everyone.
I'm an A student at the University of Washington (Seattle), and I enjoy helping others to succeed. Right now, I'm also volunteering at a high school, and my lead teacher reports that I am a compassionate and strong communicator.
I've received A's in all my math courses up through Calculus and Differential Equations. My teachers have consistently said that I have an excellent grasp of mathematical concepts and processes, and the ability to communicate these to others.
I am an English major and I received an 800 on the English SAT, in addition to A's in all of my English courses. I have volunteered in a high school English class for over two years now, and I enjoy helping students to communicate their ideas.

My daughter likes meeting with Annie. She seems to help my daughter focus her thoughts, organize her material and work more efficiently. She's been a great help.
Annie came well prepared. She guided my son through his writing assignment efficiently. She also laid out a plan for studying AP World History exam ahead of our very first meeting. I would definitely recommend her to students who need help in writing and history.
Annie is very open to collaborating with parents input and ideas about strengths and weaknesses in academic issues. She is well spoken and very attentive when with our daughter.
Annie did an excellent job explaining different mathematical concepts and rules to me. She thoroughly answered all of my questions and helped me work through several tough problems. She shared useful tips that I have applied while approaching problems on my own.
Annie was great! She helped my daughter gain a better understanding of the algebra she was doing in class. Annie went further into the problems she was working on, our school teacher only has so much time. We would recommend Annie!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience volunteering in high school level English classes and tutoring students one-on-one for classes and test prep. I believe that writing should be student-driven, and I tailor lessons to the student's needs. I emphasize foundational writing skills- grammar, organization, recognition of theme, summary, etc. and teach my students a process that they can use, and gradually use more independently.
