About Jill

Hello, my name is Jill B. and I look forward to the possibility of working with you to strengthen and succeed your educational skills. I have a BA from the University of Washington and worked in the field of education for seven years. During that time, I managed an Elementary office for a local private school. The first year, I assisted students and families in grades K-5. Some of my time was spent helping and encouraging students who were struggling in reading, spelling, penmanship and math. The following six years, I was in the position of Director of Admission and also taught a newsletter class under the English/journalism department. My students flourished as they learned to interview individuals for storylines, wrote hundreds of articles, learned about photography and what works best for print and online publication, and how to edit articles and pictures to ensure a great final product. We employed InDesign and Photoshop to create the newsletter and produced eight full-color, 6-8 page newsletters each year. Additionally, I taught Sunday school to third and fourth graders for three years developing my own lessons utilizing reading, comprehension and fun activities that supported the lessons. In all of these environments, I loved working with the students in a small group or one-on-one and watching their excitement and joy as they begin to have confidence and understanding in what skill/subject they were learning.

I truly love working with students to help them accomplish their goals and discover how bright and talented they really are. In addition to educational skills, I enjoy working with international students to help build their ESL skills and become confident about speaking English. I lived abroad as a student and have also worked with international students here in the US, so I understand the fears of learning a new language and feeling comfortable speaking with others. Finally, I owned my own business for 12 years and trained my employees in the area of customer service and the law.

I am patient and work with each student at a level and understanding that make sense to them. I believe in encouragement and I am a very optimistic person. If you are looking for someone that has your best interest and success at heart, I would be a great tutor for you. I will go at a pace that is good for you and that will challenge you enough to build upon your successes.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
