Hi, I'm Colleen! I have a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley and an undergraduate degree in Economics (summa cum laude) from University of Florida, where I was also a student athlete. After graduate school, I worked for many years as an Economist in various corporate roles: in housing finance, economic consulting, and most recently leading a large team of scientists at a technology company. At a very high level, my role in my various corporate positions was to bring economic rigor to business decisions and to help companies explain the economics of their business to various customers. While I loved working on hard economic problems, I've put particular value on the mentoring and teaching aspects of my career. I've mentored and instructed colleagues from all backgrounds throughout my career, on topics spanning basic economics concepts, econometrics modeling, statistical and database software (Excel, Stata, SAS, etc.), and career progression.

Tutoring for me is a way to share my joy of learning and teaching with others, as well as my significant experience applying economic concepts to real business problems. I taught undergraduate microeconomics, macroeconomics, and game theory courses while I was at UC Berkeley and place a premium on students obtaining a strong grasp of foundational concepts. This teaching experience was both in a classroom setting for ~25 students as well as in one-on-one tutoring sessions (and my teaching reviews were well above department averages). I also have experience tutoring young learners in math. While I am committed to getting to the right answer and helping students meet their goals, I'm a pretty laid back person and I have a lot of patience with learners. Learning should be fun and I try to facilitate a productive yet enjoyable pace and environment.
