Montana State University (Cell Biology, Neuro)
I am a recent graduate from Montana State University. I graduated, in three and a half years, Summa Cum Laude with a major in Cell Biology and Neuroscience and a minor in History. I will be enrolling in a Master's program at Western Governor's University in the Fall of 2015 in order to obtain my teaching license and Master of Arts for Education in Secondary Science. I am very excited about becoming a teacher and I want to start helping students before I complete my education.
I have experience teaching an undergraduate class in anatomy and physiology, as well as a class is advanced human dissection. I was also a mentor for high school aged students in 4-H who were part of an outreach program aimed at exposing rural areas in Montana to bioscience. In my last year of school I was also a research assistant in a Developmental and Physiological Psychology lab. The thing I love most about tutoring is the point when students finally understand something they have been struggling with for some time. I have a passion for learning and an interest in a variety of subjects.
While at Montana State University I discovered my passion and ability for biology. Some of the classes I took included Genes and Cancer, Human Neuroscience, Advanced Cellular and Molecular Biology and Advanced Human Anatomy and Dissection. I have extensive experience in teaching students, as I was a teaching assistant in both a freshman and senior level anatomy and physiology class. My research experience gives me knowledge needed to teach basic psychology and more advanced physiological psychology as well. My passion is biology, and this makes me a great choice for a tutor.
Since high school I have been interested in U.S. History, something that led me to minor in the subject even though it was completely unrelated to my degree. I received a 5 on the AP U.S. History test and took classes on the subjects of 19th an 20th History, as well as the Gilded Age in America. While history is more of a hobby for me I do enjoy teaching the subject and helping others gain an appreciation for it.
I am very excited to become a teacher and I would like to expand on my experience as a mentor and a TA by tutoring. Please contact me to schedule lessons or if you have any questions about my previous experience and qualifications. Thanks! I am a recent graduate from Montana State University. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have extensive knowledge about 19th and 20th century European History, including neocolonialism and later African history.
