About Glenn

I have a BSEE, MSEE and PhD, with more than 25 years of direct practical experience while working as an electrical engineer and solid-state physicist in a variety of industrial positions.

I have been tutoring math and science subjects to students of all ages for the past decade. My unique mix of industry (research scientist) and academia (PhD in electrical engineering) not only enables me to teach students how to solve problems but most importantly why they need to learn the material.

With the associated costs with tutoring, I concentrate on helping students obtain self-confidence that can be used without me by working on the basic concepts. By assisting students in getting caught up with difficult subjects along with self-confidence they are able to work on new concepts on their own. If a subject presents a new challenge, they can be handled with an occasional tutoring lesson.

I look forward to the point where students are able to teach me new things.

I currently offer a reduced rate for grade-school subjects in math and science.

Regards,
Glenn

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra, is one of the broadest parts of mathematics, along with geometry, trigonometry, number theory, calculus, etc. to work and study science. Literally all aspects of mathematics use algebraic rules to accomplish computations.

Regardless what field of study you are interested in mastering, you will find algebraic ideas and rules intertwined inside. I've been tutoring advanced engineering and science topics for decades to students of all ages successfully. By helping students gain a firm confident grasp of algebra they are able to concentrate on specific topics of interest.

Algebra 2

Advanced Math (Algebra, Calculus, Etc.) skills were required to finish my formal education in addition to working as an microwave engineer and semiconductor device research scientist.

Differential Equations

Differential equations are one of the multitude of basic tools that engineers, scientists use. I've had formal training in my formal education as well as practical experience in the many techniques that are employed to solve today's real-life problems.

Discrete Math

I have worked throughout the digital revolution of the past 30 years as a electronic designer, programmer, to discrete electronic components that are required to make CPU's, ADC's, DAC's, memory, etc. The topics that are included in today's discrete math are tools that I've used continuously to achieve the published research results during my career.

Electrical Engineering

I have formal education (BSEE, MSEE and PhD) and over 25 years of direct practical experience while working as an Electrical Engineer in a variety of industrial positions.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been successfully working as a tutor for the past 5 years with a variety of children in grade school with good feedback. I found my experience as a research scientist fascinated the kids which created an environment which they wanted to be in.

Macintosh

I've been using Macintosh computers for my engineering/science work for the past 25 years. During this time frame I've evolved with apple technology and have always incorporated the latest technology in my research. I have also been teaching others how to use the mac's from new to seasoned users.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that describes triangles and relationships between the length of sides and the angles between them. These functions and rules are the basics to cyclical phenomena such as waves.

My career specialty (Microwave engineering/Applied Physics) uses these basic principles of trigonometry, Fourier analysis, wave equations to describe and study quantum mechanics and solid state physics. I have literally thousands of hours of tutoring and helping students of all ages in learning these basics.
