When I was a teaching assistant at WWU and OSU I encountered many interesting students. The students were excited to see chemical demonstrations such as the gummy bear sacrifice. These type of demos really got the students interested in the science we were doing in the lab.

When I was a teaching assistant at WWU and OSU I encountered many interesting students. The students were excited to see chemical demonstrations such as the gummy bear sacrifice. These type of demos really got the students interested in the science we were doing in the lab.

It showed them how chemistry works and why it is important. I love seeing students having those ah-ha moments when science starts to make sense. I had a good time reading comical answers to lab questions. One student answered the question “Why does tap water conduct electricity?” with “It’s a government conspiracy!” along with the correct answer. Working with such exciting young minds motivates me to want to learn more and to be the best at relaying information to the next generation of scientists.

As a tutor I’ve had many good times as well. I get to work with bright students of various grades and different backgrounds. My most recent tutor experience is tutoring a friend’s daughter who is homeschooled. Her parents are very smart and knowledgeable people, but Math is not really their thing. I’ve gotten to help her understand pre-algebra. It’s very rewarding to see the light come on in her eyes when she understands an equation. I love being able to have her explain to me what she needs to do to solve the equation.

Helping people learn is one of the most rewarding things I do.

I took the ASVAB and scored an AFQT of 94. I tutored applicants to help them successfully raise their ASVAB score in order for entrance into the military. I also helped military members raise their AFQT score for MOS re-class.
