Swarthmore College (English Literature)
Hi there! I'm a Winooski resident and recent graduate of Swarthmore College, with a BA in English Literature, History, and French. During my college experience, I worked for three years as a Writing Associate (a peer reviewer & editor of student academic writing) in Swarthmore's Writing Center, and volunteered for two years as an English & Math tutor with the College Access Center of Delaware County, serving students in the city of Chester, PA. My public-speaking skills have developed during my time as a spoken-word poet, representing Swarthmore at two national spoken-word poetry competitions on a team of five poets. After graduation, I have worked one-on-one as a freelance editor with a student pursuing a Master's degree in Arabic literature. I love working with all age levels. My favorite part of tutoring is encouraging students to see in themselves their individual capacities for improvement and success, and helping them compile a toolbox of strategies to tackle sources of difficulty across different academic disciplines.
I graduated from Swarthmore with a minor in French, a language that I have pursued through study-abroad experiences in Avignon, France, and as a Writing Associate for a French writing course at Swarthmore College. I speak French fluently and am comfortable assisting with grammar and pronunciation in addition to writing.
I am confident tutoring ACT English, literature, and writing across all academic disciplines - as a Writing Associate, I reviewed student papers from math, psychology, biology, art history, and English courses.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a French minor at Swarthmore College, wrote my dissertation on French working-class literature (in French), and studied abroad during the summer after my sophomore year with a seven-week intensive literature & history program in Avignon, France, through the competitive Institut d'Avignon facilitated by Bryn Mawr College.
