About Christine

I am a lifelong learner and hold deep regard for the process of learning. I hold an M.Ed. in special education and I am a licensed school counselor. I have twenty years' experience working with students in grades K-12. I have worked with many different kinds of learners and pay close attention to individual learning styles when initiating work with students. I like to understand and utilize students' strengths, interests and personal motivators as a resource for helping students achieve academic goals.

I have tutored elementary, middle and high school students in all subject areas. I have tutored college students in the social sciences. My forte is English, Writing, Social Studies and test preparation. I can work flexible hours and will come to you wherever a convenient meeting location may be (home, library, school, etc.).

I look forward to speaking with you about your individual tutoring needs and exploring if my skills match what you are looking for to help your student reach his/her highest potential.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I hold a Masters Degree in special education with a concentration in emotional and behavioral diagnosis.
I have worked individually and in classroom settings with ADD/ADHD students for the past thirteen years.
I have helped students develop educational planning and organizational skills, as well as run small social skill groups and stress management groups for ADD/ADHD students.

Aspergers

I hold a Masters degree in special education with a concentration in Emotional and Behavioral Diagnosis.
I have worked with many Aspergers students both individually and in group and classroom settings, helping them to set and meet educational, social and personal goals.
I use social stories, diagramming and other techniques tailored to individual learning styles to influence academic and social growth.

Special Needs

I hold a Master's Degree from the University of Vermont in Emotional and Behavioral Disturbance.
I am trained in non-violent crisis intervention, life-space crisis intervention and cognitive-behavioral teaching and counseling methodology.
