Welcome to my WyzAnt profile, and thank you for your interest! My name is Simon and I'm a recent Wesleyan University graduate with extensive tutoring experience. I graduated from Mt. Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, MA in 2006, having completed AP level coursework in English, European and American history, calculus, chemistry, and Latin. I graduated from Wesleyan in 2010 with high honors from the College of Letters program. I am currently working towards a Masters in Fine Arts from the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction.
Though new to WyzAnt, I have thorough experience in tutoring and education. In college, I worked as a writing tutor and thesis mentor. After graduating, I spent a year as a City Year AmeriCorps member. In City Year I provided classroom support for a third grade ESL ("English as a second language") class and worked with fifth graders at an after-school program. The bulk of my classroom work was tutoring, while my after-school work consisted primarily of homework help and enrichment programming. I have also worked as a substitute teacher.
My favorite subjects to tutor are history and English; however, I also enjoy helping students with math and Spanish. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. I look forward to hearing from you! Welcome to my WyzAnt profile, and thank you for your interest! My name is Simon and I'm a recent Wesleyan University graduate with extensive tutoring experience. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
