Hi! I have worked teaching and tutoring students anywhere from kindergarten to PhD candidates. I have also worked professionally as a writer and editor for the past 15 years and I specialize in academic and historical writing. If you or your child struggle with writing composition, structure, grammar or flow, I am your girl. I have also taught history, philosophy, religion, and anthropology as well as having a master's degree in psychology. I believe in meeting the student where he or she is and building from there. I practice student-centered learning, meaning that I do not feed answers to the student but help him or her build the skills to develop and derive their own answers. I am aware of the stress and embarrassment that can come from struggling with a particular subject or project. In a tutoring session I not only address the academic issues but use my counseling skills to help work through feelings of resistance and frustration as well, helping the student become a better academic performer overall. I look forward to the chance of meeting and working with you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
