About Willis

I am a former newspaper editor and a reporter. I have been a published writer since I was nineteen and currently write monthly pieces for several smaller magazines. I have a passion for literature, both classical, including Shakespeare and Greek Literature, as well as more modern work such as Hemingway and Faulkner. I also have a love and a lot of knowledge of most history and theater as well as Native American cultures.

I was a personal tutor to many students in college, helping them get through their different English and Writing classes. I was also a substitute teacher and a para-educator for several years. When I teach, I try to pass on the love and passion that I hold for the subjects, and try to make each lesson as entertaining as possible. I have an extremely outgoing and positive personality and can show my students the fun within their subjects and the best ways to excel within them.

Outside of reading, writing, and painting, I also enjoy fishing and hunting, and I play rugby and box as a way to stay in shape, all of which are subjects that I am willing to share with my students.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
