About Andrew

I am a native Vermonter. I left Vermont when I was 18 and enlisted in the US Marines where I served two combat tours. I am a former State and Local Anti-Terrorism Trainer through the Bureau of Justice Assistant. In 2016 I graduated from the College of St. Joseph with a degree in secondary education majoring in social studies. Shortly thereafter, I was licensed by the state to teach history and social studies in the secondary setting.

I operate a small farm, and produce goat milk and homemade soaps. I recently accepted a position teaching at the college level. I am currently enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University pursuing my Masters of Science in Criminal Justice with a focus on advanced counter terrorism. I am also a published author.

I began my quest to learn history when I was stationed in Fallujah, Iraq. I began reading American History texts in my spare time. I still continue this practice today to include constant audio book consumption while I drive daily. I have been a part of history on several occasions and I have a unique perspective on history. I enjoy leading students to understand the material in a way that allows them to own it for themselves. Once that happens, the rest is history!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a former United States Marine, member of an elite special operations capable unit, and security forces training school graduate. I am a 5 year veteran Correctional Officer. I am a former State and Local Anti-Terrorism Trainer through the US Bureau of Justice Assistant. Currently in am enrolled in graduate school at SNHU for an MS in Criminal Justice with a current 4.0GPA. I also am scheduled to teach personal safety at the college level starting in January.
