About Karen

Bio

I love reading and writing, and enjoy applied mathematics and algebra. I had the good fortune to have had many excellent teachers to help me succeed scholastically. I would be delighted to try to pass along the skills needed to make learning an enjoyable experience.

I have been told in the past from co-workers that they were able to learn a lot from me on mainframe computer applications and project management. I also was a graduate teaching assistant at UVM in statistics and was a tutor...

I have been told in the past from co-workers that they were able to learn a lot from me on mainframe computer applications and project management. I also was a graduate teaching assistant at UVM in statistics and was a tutor for calculus.

I would welcome the opportunity to be of service in helping others succeed with math, reading, and possibly other areas and pass along my enjoyment of the journey. If excitement and confidence for learning evolves, that would be wonderful. Thank you.

Subjects

Computer

COBOL,

COBOL

I started as a programmer trainee and progressed to senior programmer, senior analyst, senior systems analyst. Senior systems engineer and finally director of corporate systems development. I love programming because I love to solve problems and I love finding automated solutions to doing so. I realize that COBOL is no longer in the forefront of new application development but there are many places where it still remains prominent and integral to the business applications.

Good teacher, sincere. Needs to slow down a little.

Karen is sincere and pleasant. She obviously cares about her pupil. My wife is Chinese so Karen needs to slow down a little, and right now, stay on the specific problems of passing the US Citizen exam, and not try to explain political history and theory. That could come later. Wife needs exam practice mostly, some discipline to pass the interview and exam. I am sure Karen can help with that. 2nd lesson much more specific and very helpful. More interaction with my Chinese wife.
