About Wes

I graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Economics and Honors Chemistry in the Spring of 2016. I was a member of the Men's Rowing Team and Team President my senior year. I've raced both for Michigan and the United States while at the same time I loved my academics.

I've been tutoring off and on starting in high school and throughout college. My goal whenever I tutor someone is to show them how fun and interesting science and math can be, and give them a love for the subjects that challenged and rewarded me.

I now live out in the middle of nowhere Vermont at the Craftsbury Outdoor center, training full time as an athlete and would like to continue tutoring in my free time.

I graduated high school with a 4.22 weighted GPA and scoring a 34 on the ACT. I graduated with Honors from college with a 3.6 GPA and scoring in the 96th percentile on the new MCAT. I was a member of the Honors Society in High School and in the Honors College at U of M.

I have an extremely flexible schedule and can easily accommodate last minute lessons as well as limited student schedules.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

Throughout high school, I took the ACT a total of six times, starting with a score of 28 as a freshman and ending with a score of 34 as a senior, the 99th percentile. I learned the strategies associated with taking the test and how to approach each section. I have stayed up to date on the Princeton Review's study material for the ACT and their suggested strategies.

Algebra 1

Math has been one of my favorite subjects since the age of 10. I have received straight A's up through calculus four, differential equations.

While I've had a natural inclination my entire life to enjoy math from the challenges associated with mastering the topic, I understand the struggles with learning math and am very good at being able to explain topics in many different ways that makes the topics clear and concise.

Chemistry

I majored in Honors Chemistry in college, getting A's in almost every single one of my classes.

I love chemistry and have tutored fellow classmates throughout college in various chemistry classes, always receiving very positive feedback and results in their grades. I am very adept at making chemistry approachable and easily understood.

MCAT

I took an MCAT Prep class through the Princeton Review in 2015 for the new MCAT exam. I scored in the 96th percentile, a 518, on the exam and was told throughout my classes that I should consider working for Princeton Review after the exam. I have had a lot of experience tutoring and am able to help individuals identify if they need help on the material or strategy for taking the exam.

Physics

In college I received A's in my intro physics classes and was one of the top students in my 250 person lecture. I tutored several classmates in physics while taking my classes.

If I had taken physics as a freshman, I would most likely have chosen that as my major. Unfortunately I didn't take it until my junior year of college after I had already declared chemistry. I still love tutoring physics whenever I get the chance.

Precalculus

Math has been one of my favorite subjects since the age of 10. I have received straight A's up through calculus four, differential equations.

Help with Honors Chemistry

My son had his first lesson with Wes tonight. He really liked him. He said he explained the lesson really good so a young man could understand. We will have another lesson next week but expect it to go great.
