I'm an artist, a musician, and a parent. My life and work experience is diverse and has led me to travels in Mexico, Central America and China. I am an English speaker but know some Spanish which could be helpful. I've taught students, from grade school to adult, from beginners to professionals...how to paint. For over 25 years I was a licensed landscape architect, so I have lots of experience with drawing, drafting and design.
Since my daughter was born, 5 years ago, I estimate that my wife and I have read about 2000 books to her. Well maybe a bit less because we often read them many times. Turns out that I'm a pretty good storyteller, sometimes acting out the parts with different voices. Of course sometimes I get carried away and my daughter asks me to "please use your own voice dad". I really enjoy reading to her. My daughter is really into arts and crafts and I believe that she considers reading and math to be a part of that. It's all the same creative play for her..and although she starts kindergarten next year, she is already reading and doing math at second grade level. While I give her most of the credit, I believe my light and creative approach to explaining basic math and sharing new vocabulary, provide a good foundation.
I would love to help you in any way I can with English, vocabulary, basic math, drawing and painting. And if you need some harmonica lessons...I'm your tutor! Hi!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I love to read. Since my daughter was born I've discovered that I love to read aloud to her and especially enjoy creating special voices and dramatic delivery. I've always pointed out how the commas, periods and exclamation points show us how to phrase the sentences. My daughter now 5, has been reading for over a year and is now reading 'chapter' books(nor pictures Dad!) to herself. When I was in the 4th grade I was runner up in the school spelling bee. So, have always had a natural talent for spelling and I think that has transferred as well into an attention for detail, a great benefit in my architecture and art careers.
