Bio

Tara has been a peer and professional tutor at the middle school through college levels since 2010. She graduated summa cum laude from Muhlenberg College with degrees and honors in History and English. Tara has been a peer and professional tutor at the middle school through college levels since 2010. She graduated summa cum laude from Muhlenberg College with degrees and honors in History and English. In college, she tutored biology, Spanish, and writing through her school's tutoring and writing centers. After graduating, she tutored professionally at a community college (tutoring writing in all disciplines) for a year before returning to school to earn a master's degree in History. She is currently writing her dissertation for a Ph.D. in History. In Graduate School, she has worked as a college instructor in the History Department and as a humanities tutor in the Services for Student-Athletes Department. Having been an NCAA athlete herself, Tara is able to help students not only with the course materials at hand but also with time management and motivation. Tara was recognized by her graduate department with a Teaching Excellence Award in 2016 and a nomination for the Best Graduate Student Instructor at her university.

Tara enjoys helping students at any stage of their studying, thinking, or writing processes. Sometimes, the biggest challenge is putting the first paragraph on a blank page; sometimes it's polishing up grammar and syntax. Tara is trained in writing theory and writing tutoring, as well as teaching World and United States history. She pulls from her extensive experience to provide an individualized tutoring approach ranging from constructing mneumonic devices to remember details to outlining study guides and research papers.

She holds places on her school's Top 10 All-Time Performance List in the long jump, triple jump, intermediate hurdles, javelin, 500m, 4x400m relay, and 60m dash. Her best events were javelin (135'), triple jump (36'), long jump (17'), and intermediate hurdles (66.7). She also won numerous scholar-athlete awards in high school and college, including her college's Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athlete Award in 2013.
