Hi, I am Adam. A retired school principal, I have also been teaching and tutoring for more than three decades, making a difference in hundreds of student lives. I have a Masters degree in education and educational evaluation. I empower students of all ages and abilities to overcome their obstacles to learning and to find their passion and strength in learning successes. I coach students who excel to get to higher levels of success. I have taught and tutored students of elementary, middle and high school ages, college-age and adults. It is a joy to work with both students with special needs and students who are considered 'gifted and talented' and anyone else who may not feel they fit either of those attributes, though I firmly believe that every person has value with their own unique manifestation of gifts and talents, and part of my job is to help provide a situation that fosters the students to discover for themselves and cultivate their own gifts and talents. Tutoring areas for me include reading, writing, math, geography, history, art history, and SAT test preparation. My college counseling experience has included preparation, portfolio development, test readiness, college search and analysis, and student decision-making. I have had experiences of teaching and tutoring students of different cultures and upbringings. I have taught English in China at Sichuan Foreign Languages Institute (now Sichuan International University) and Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering (now Chongqing University). I have also taught in Nepal. With a Masters Degree in Education and Educational Evaluation, I am permanently certified as a teacher in New York State. I am also certified in Educational Administration. I have experience teaching English to speakers of other languages and working on academic subjects with both students with learning disabilities and students below, at or above grade level in a range of subjects. My tutoring process involves helping students to build their self-confidence, fostering interest i
