About Edward

Hope you like the picture taken of me with my grandson. (He's the handsome one!) I am a lifelong learner. Learning is my passion. I have been a tutor to ALL kinds of students for 5 years. I am currently employed by a prestigious Technical School as a certified para-educator. I know that I can help ANY student find the right way to learn what she or he needs to.

I have a wonderful wife and two grown daughters who make me very proud. I also enjoy lots of "adopted sons and daughters" who have been a big part of my life and my teaching and mentoring experiences.

Sometimes, the traditional school experience is not suitable for all learners. Students sometimes find that other approaches or settings are better, and make them more successful. I am familiar with ways of finding what works best for each individual student. Everyone is different!

While there is not enough space here to list all the things that I am passionate about or interested in, I will try to sum them all up by stating that I am interested in seeing ALL people succeed in becoming properly educated. It is the key to everyone's empowerment and self-direction. Let me assist you or your child with that goal.

Thank you for looking at my page

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to submit this letter of recommendation for Mr. Ed D. Mr. D. has been an invaluable tutor in our school system for many years. Most recently, he has been working with students in intermediate grades, middle school, and high school. He also meets with the teachers ensuring students have access to their education and resources. He is a strong advocate of student needs and is a quiet yet firm voice for students.

His work in the area of tutoring is also personal to me. We had the opportunity to hire Ed to tutor our daughter when she had a medical situation that required her to miss school. Ed took it upon himself to work with the teachers of two fairly high level classes (physics and environmental science) to keep her caught up to date and on time with her studies. He designed labs to conduct and furnished all of the needed lessons that she needed to complete the semester. We were very impressed with his level of professionalism and commitment to the work. Consequently, our daughter began college the following semester and was ready to pursue further academic studies.

Mr. D. most often worked with me professionally on cases that involved students who needed tutoring support in addition to their schooling or in replacement of their schooling. He worked tirelessly to accommodate students’ schedules and family life to make sure they received an education that was directly connected to their classroom work. In many cases, we were able to transition the students directly back into the classroom environment. His collaboration and guidance with the classroom teacher, family, and school-based teams are to be commended.

You will be pleased and impressed by Mr. D.’s professional demeanor, his positive outlook on life, and his care and concern for students and families. You will be impressed with Mr. D.’s work ethic and care for our student population.

Mary Jane S., Principal

I was an off-campus core subjects tutor (employed by school district) for students in grades 4-12, including those students with reading difficulties. My training as a para-educator included courses on alternative reading methods.

I enjoy writing using various styles of presentation. While working with the local school district, I acquired knowledge of 3 excellent persuasive writing forms, which are used in local schools.

In my work as a grade 4-12 tutor for local schools, I have had the unique opportunity of being exposed to a variety of challenges that face struggling young writers. I have been able to work through these with students and achieve success with many writing assignments.

I am also a successful grant writer.
