Texas State University (English)
Union Institute & University (Master's)
As a former teacher and university administrator, I hold an M.A. with a concentration in Literature & Writing and I have experience tutoring and teaching English Composition and Research (English 101 and English 102). I completed a graduate internship in teaching writing at Union Institute & University, and I worked for the University as both a writing teacher and tutor. My approach toward teaching is often more Socratic or inquiry-based in nature. I like to approach students individually as everyone is unique and at a different point in their learning process. As a result of this personalized method, I excel at putting each student at ease so he or she can concentrate on learning in a non-judgmental and open environment.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
