After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1992, I worked in the field of television production for 4 years. I wrote scripts, shot and edited video footage and produced monthly news segments.
In 1996, I moved to Yorktown and began teaching for a private elementary academy. I taught 2nd grade for three years and 3rd grade for four years. The subjects I taught were: math, English writing and grammar, reading, science, Virginia History, book reports, current events and social studies. I went on to provide SOL intervention tutoring to students in the Newport News and Charles City County public school systems; grades K-8. I passed the Praxis I teaching exam in 2005.
After leaving teaching, I worked in the non profit arena as a volunteer coordinator and outreach specialist. I recruited, trained and managed volunteers and provided education/awareness events to the community as requested. I utilized my public speaking, researching and writing skills on a daily basis and was promoted to Executive Director. I am now looking to work with students once again as I feel I have a talent and passion for helping others!
