Hello everyone! My name is Ms. Monique. I am a certified English/Language Arts teacher and I currently teach 7th grade English/Language Arts. My hobbies include reading, writing, going to the beach, and playing the piano and the violin. I am multilingual (English, French, and Spanish).
I am a college graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. My educational and professional experience has allowed me to work with various students, hence strategically planning around their needs. I've been a committed tutor for four years. My most recent opportunity involves tutoring for a S.T.E.M. Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in one or more of these areas a few times a week. I also serve as a mentor to high school students and help them prepare college entry letters and begin resume building.
I value community service. As a product of a public school system, I believe that tutoring allows for the best opportunity for me to play an active role in inspiring and helping people of diverse backgrounds to achieve excellence. I truly love helping people and find it most rewarding when I see them succeed.
I have experience working with gifted, ESL/ESOL, and special education students. I am technology savvy and have experience teaching writing online where students ask questions and receive feedback via email throughout the writing process in a timely manner. Achieved proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Strong reading and writing skills to in turn teach effective test taking strategies, build reading comprehension skills , and use MLA/APA style for research papers.
Choose me! You won't regret it! I am an experienced, young-spirited educator that has great rapport with students. I believe teaching is my calling. I have a real passion for setting people up for success by incorporating creative lessons to help them learn and build self-esteem.
Cheers to our journey of fun, personalized instruction!

Monique was on time and went right to work. She found out what my son likes and tailored the lesson review to fit his interest. She developed a lesson plan for the areas he needed additional practice. Highly recommendable!
Our first tutoring session went great! Ms. Monique is very knowledgeable and patient. She teaches Language Arts terms in a way that my son can grasp and retain. I look forward to many more sessions.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
