Math is not a spectator sport! Through hard work and effort on the part of your child, and with me as a tutor, your child should succeed in their math course. Success is measured in many ways. I will not guarantee that your child will earn an A in their math course but they will increase their understanding of the material and their level of confidence in the course work.
I am an experienced math teacher and have taught more than 35 years in the classroom. I have taught grades 7 through 12 in private and public schools from pre-algebra to pre-calculus. Mrs. Pat immediately contacted me and was available at a moments notice to assist my son with Algebra. My son is not a people person and I was very surprised when he informed me that he would like her to continue to be his tutor, so I guess we'll see her again this weekend.
I highly recommend Pat as a math tutor. She has been wonderful with my high school senior this year.
Pat is a wonderful tutor! She has so many ways to explain the material and help my daughter. Pat is knowledgeable and easy to work with.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught mathematics for over 35 years in private and public schools in grades 7 through 12. Algebra I is the gateway to all higher level mathematics. I firmly believe a student must have a firm foundation in this course. I will reinforce what the teacher has taught and practice the material with the student.
I have taught many math courses above and below this course so I know the foundation of Algebra II and also know what is needed to be successful in future math courses. I am confident I can help your child whether it be factoring polynomials, solving linear or quadratic equations or inequalities or solving word problems.
For many years I have taught geometry. The tools of geometry, vocabulary, and definitions are the foundations with which to build upon to develop postulates and theorems. You must be able to use all of these to develop both inductive and deductive reasoning. The study of geometry can be both satisfying and fun. Hopefully I can instill in your teen the love of the subject.
Need help with the basic concepts of mathematics, I can help! Your child needs to understand and develop a firm foundation with which to build upon for his future math courses. Whether it be performing operations on the number system, solving equations, ratio and proportion, graphing or other concepts, I can help reinforce these concepts. I have taught both seventh and eighth graders these concepts and look forward to helping your child.
