I have taught and tutored at the collegiate level for several years, as well as in corporate settings. There always comes a time when the light goes on for the student and "THEY GET IT." That's why one chooses to teach/tutor. It's wonderful for the teacher and the student.
As to the tutorial experience and approach: First you must know the subject material cold. Two college degrees - BSIE, Univ. Ok, 1969 and MBA, Univ of Ok.,1981 - and 10 years of teaching and tutoring have that those bases covered. More often than not, this is just not enough. Finding out the real stumbling blocks is the key. Peer pressure? Bad previous teacher interaction? Previously told something like "You're no good at math!"? Or any number of other possible issues. It is not just the subject matter in question. More importantly, the focus should be about the total student, not just the subject matter. Let's all work together to solve these issues and improve those grades and raise that self esteem. My child's confidence has soared in just one session with Chad. Much appreciation to him and we look forward to continuing lessons with him. This was the fit we have been longing for.
Taught me how to add and number additional rows to existing spreadsheet. Required minor instruction in re-arranging existing macros.
Chad was great, he has a warm and friendly character and according to my son (7th grade) he was really good at explaining things and simplifying some thinking. We are really glad to have found Chad!
He was very patient and I can see he would be helpful with any age or level I recommend Chad.
My 17 year old son came away from his first session saying "this guy is GOOD!" - Chad is patient and very relate-able, especially to a teenager. I have every confidence he will get my son well prepared for the upcoming SAT!
Chad has been tutoring my daughter for several weeks now. He is patient and has a great way of making math fun even for a 10 year old girl. Although reluctant to go at first, my daughter actually enjoys and looks forward to the sessions. Due to his work with her, she is staying ahead of her class. He also takes care to recognize her for a job well done which builds her confidence even more. He is a very good tutor with a great personality. I highly recommend him.
Chad is a wonderful tutor, I was worried about so much on meeting with a tutor for the first time but he really lightened up the atmosphere with getting to know me a little first before tutoring. I learned more than I thought I would in a 2 hour session. Having Chad as my tutor has really helped me understand Arithmetic Reasoning more, now I am easily figuring out the answers to questions in less than half the time I normally would. I highly recommend Chad to any other student out there who needs help in any subject you struggling with.
Chad was amazing. I was put in a real pinch and Chad helped to save the day. Not only did he agree to help on short notice, Chad walked me through the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet analysis that contained Financial aspects step by step. When you have a professor drop a mess in your lap and you have no idea how to start, it was comforting to know that I had an Ace in my pocket!!
Highly suggest contacting Chad, you won't regret it. He will surely explain Excel while also showing how Financial aspects in a spreadsheet can be understood afterall.
Chad has done a great job in working with my son. He is very patient and really tries to engage my son into what math is all about. Chad continues to do a great job in helping our son with math!!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Learn something about math - sure! Learn a lot about the secrets of how to take this test with confidence - absolutely!
Business: So simple in theory and so hard in actual practice. The range of skills needed is vast and daunting. Virtually everyone needs some help. Not only do I have an MBA, I owned and ran three business for 16 years. Theory and practice!
There is a range of computer abilities: from what's an icon at one end to worrying about an EIDE versus an SATA hard drive connector. No matter where you fall, I can make the computer a useful tool, not something to fear. It can be fun! Really!
Beginner or expert? Whether its cells, cell reference (with and without the '$'), formulas (yours or those from Microsoft), pivot tables, converting the sheet to 'data' and filtering, charting/graphing, sheet to sheet references, summaries, or if/then/else logic - I can help. My goal is to get you to learn it so you do not need me anymore. We just have to get started.
Slopes, intercepts, coordinates, algebraic formulas, algebraic properties, etc., etc ... I can help make sense of it all for you. It is not really that hard. It's not! Let me show you!
