Hi there! I am Danny. And a I am passionate about teaching! I have spent the past twenty years teaching Math and Physics courses at a public high school in Virginia. As these courses are the bedrock of so many fields of expertise and further study at the collegiate level, I know that it is essential for students to be well-grounded in these subjects. Therefore, I have dedicated my career to developing methods that are effective at training students how to "think" like a mathematician or physicist. It is such a joy for me to watch academic frustration melt away!

After minoring in Mathematics in college, I spent the next twenty years teaching high school Algebra and Geometry courses. Over the years, I have taught over 1,000 students. I have witnessed many kids transform from "math-fearers" to "math-fans"! Year after year, my students have been highly successful on the End-Of-Course tests administered by the state. It is a thrill for me to teach students how to think mathematically so that math actually makes sense and is not simply a method of "getting the right answers."

As for physics, I fell in the love with "the granddaddy of all science" when I was a high school student. I attended James Madison University on a physics scholarship and graduated with a B.S. in Physics four years later, having been awarded the "Outstanding Junior Physics Major" and "Outstanding Senior Physics Major" awards by the Physics Department. Although I had the knowledge base and skillset to continue my study of physics at the graduate level, I realized that my passion and joy was sharing physics with others. This is what drove me into teaching full-time, eventually obtaining my Masters in Physics Education along the way. I am fully aware that physics can be an intimidating and confusing subject. Therefore, I make it my goal to teach students how to think like a physicist, changing "intimidation" into fascination and "confusion" into wonder!

As an intermediate guitarist, I still have much to learn about the guitar m

Patient and Responsive

Danny has been a tremendous help in my redemption to do better in my Physics 2 course. He patiently guided me in reviewing topics from prior physics needed to answer practice problems for the current semester. I wish I have met him earlier and highly recommend him to anyone struggling with problem-solving details.

Understanding Tutor

I had to do two labs but because it was a summer course, I forgot almost everything that I learned. Danny was understanding and went over the equations and formulas without over complicating them. I was able to remember and we were able to get through the labs quickly and efficiently. Would definitely use them again as a tutor.

Exceptional Tutor!!!

I tried 3 other physics tutors before giving Danny a try. I loved his tutoring style so much that I stuck with him for the rest of my college level physics II class. He keeps a really good pace and gives you just the right amount of time to try and think about/solve the problems before stepping in. His notes were very clear and colorful whether it was typed notes, written notes or notes with diagrams. Danny was also very adaptable. He helped with labs, written assignments, online assignments, exam reviews and understanding difficult concepts from lectures. Overall Danny is very patient, kind and knowledgable. I would highly recommend Danny for your physics or math classes. I enjoyed all of our tutoring sessions together which is really saying a lot because physics was such a struggle for me.
