Hi, and thank you for considering me for your tutoring needs. I have been actively involved in the accounting and finance fields for many years. I am a licensed Virginia CPA and have been licensed for over 20 years. Furthermore, I hold a masters degree in Accounting. I have taught college-level accounting classes, and I have tutored college students in financial and managerial accounting and corporate finance since 2008. (I regularly tutor students in intermediate accounting and managerial accounting.) I started tutoring because I remembered from my college days how most instructors lectured at students rather than engaging with them; I felt that I could read the book and learn just as much as I did by attending those classes. I take a different approach: I go through each problem step-by-step and discuss with my student why I am following a certain procedure to solve the problem. I then ask them questions to clarify their understanding of the topic. Finally, I have prepared educational seminar materials and reviewed knowledge-testing materials in accounting and finance. Doing so has allowed me to develop methods for getting to the heart of exam questions, a skill that I pass on to my students during our tutoring sessions. While I cannot guarantee grades, many of my students have reported to me that they received As in their classes after our tutoring sessions. Please note that I DO NOT tutor students regarding the CPA Exam.

(CPA) accounting instructor

Besides the CPA knowledge, he is very familiar with my Intermediate Accounting Two class. He understands the best way to use the resources. This is very helpful in this intense course. A lot of information to digest, so this added planned approach is very useful. A good fit for my University class.

Excellent Tutor for College Accounting

I scheduled a couple of sessions with Barry to prepare for a 4 chapter test in Managerial Accounting. He was very patient and explained the material in a way that I could easily understand. I received an “A” on the test which is a marked improvement over the previous tests that I have taken this semester. I highly recommend Barry.
