I keep my clients' books using Quickbooks and I have trained several clients to keep their own books using those systems. I also prepare individual, sole proprietorship, S corporation, and C corporation state and federal income tax returns, as well as state and federal payroll and sales tax returns. Finally, I advise them on everything from the type of entity they should use and how they should finance their businesses to what personnel policies they should implement. My clients were mainly in the consulting, retail, restaurant, construction, and medical fields. I am a Quickbooks Certified Pro Advisor and Xero Certified Advisor.

I was a state sales and use tax auditor for 8 years and a state tax audit supervisor for almost 2 years. I was also an internal revenue agent for over 3 years, during which time I examined individuals and small- and mid-sized businesses. I advised taxpayers on how to modify their accounting systems in order to best comply with tax reporting requirements in all of these positions.

I hold a master’s degree in Accounting (concentration in Taxation). I have taught college-level accounting and taxation classes, and I have tutored college students in financial and managerial accounting and corporate finance since 2008. Finally, I have prepared educational seminar materials and reviewed knowledge-testing materials in these fields.

Though I tutor students at many colleges and universities, most of my students attend classes at University of Maryland University College (UMUC), University of Virginia (UVA) and Excelsior College.

Excellent with Managerial Accounting

Barry explains information in detail, but gets right to the point. I have tutors who chit chat too much and I am here to learn! I am not an accounting major, so this topic is somewhat foreign to me and Barry explains each question and problem thoroughly. Barry even reviews why the wrong answers are wrong, I LOVE THAT! He knows his information. I tried other tutors for Managerial Accounting, but they did not know the content, Barry is a pro and gets it! THANK YOU.

Knowledgeable and Thorough

We went over problems I had gotten wrong. He told me how to do each one, explaining the concepts and why the procedure is the way it is. He also explained each solution and told me what I was thinking when I got the problem wrong. It was very helpful.

Help For Financial Managerial Accounting

Split Stock. Definition of credit, asset, liability. How debits increase assets. How credits increase equity. Debits must always equal credit. This helped me focus on how to record the transactions for each problem.

Very Patient & Extremely Knowledgeable,

First of all tutoring with Barry is a joyful experience! He makes the lessons easy, engaging, and comfortable. I was struggling in a finance class and found Barry as a tutor on WyzAnt. After each lesson Barry sent excel documents to help with each word finance problem I had for homework. I learned how to compute the finance problem and increased in excel formula knowledge. Overall, my experience with Barry was five (5) stars! I completed my finance class with an A for a final grade! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A great thing about Barry is he doesn't rush through the student session, always to be sure the work is correct.
