Bio

I'm licensed in Prek-6th grade in the state of Virginia. I can also help with homework or SOL test prep. I'm an elementary teacher who is staying home with my two little girls. I love teaching but while I stay at home I thought tutoring would be the next best thing. Learning should be fun and that's my goal for every tutoring session.

I've taught all different types of learners and will adapt each session to fit the need of those individual students. We all learn differently and I believe...

I've taught all different types of learners and will adapt each session to fit the need of those individual students. We all learn differently and I believe the more I can relate what you are learning to a students own specific needs, the more students will get out of it. Making those meaningful connections to what students are leaning, helps students retain the information better.

Math was never my favorite subject in school so I try to make it as fun as possible for kids. I don't want them to feel the way I did about math. Fractions should be fun not painful.

I love to read and talk about books that I've read or are currently reading. When I used to teach 3rd grade I would have book talks and I really enjoyed reading the books with my students.

I enjoy working with kids and making learning fun. I look forward to working with you!

While teaching 3rd grade I had to prepare students to take their Virginia Standards of learning test (SOL). When I first started, students took a test in math, reading, science and social studies. Now they only have to take them in the areas of math and reading. All school year long we talk about test taking strategies and how to prepare for these test. These strategies are not used applicable to the SOL test but also for other assessments students have to take all year long.
