I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. I have been tutoring for about nine years and have tutored a wide variety of subjects, but my favorite to teach is Math of any sort. I started tutoring my peers in high school, and from there I started branching out and tutoring other high school students in my area. In college, I was an accredited Chegg tutor who also tutored for the Virginia Tech Math department.

One of my favorite things about tutoring is what I call the "AH HA" moment. That moment when a student has been struggling with a subject matter and then all the sudden the light bulb turns on and it starts to make sense. I fully understand that some people may feel that math isn't for them, but I will do my best to make it as fun and interactive as possible.

I also understand that math can be quite challenging at times. I have taken plenty of classes where I felt lost and had to reach out for help. I was very fortunate to have had great tutors and teachers and will do my best to employ those same techniques to help my students.

I am very patient and do my best to tailor my teaching style based on each student's needs. I have no problem going over the same material over and over until my students understand it to the best of their ability. There is no such thing as a dumb question, and I will happily go out of my way to research other means of teaching a subject if for some reason my method is not effective for my student.

Feel free to contact me at your convenience and I will answer any questions that you have!

During my time as a Applied Math major, I constantly had to use algebra to solve complex problems. Even though algebra is something we learn early on in our math careers, it is the building block of all math.

I have tutored SAT math for about five years now. In my opinion, there are two methods that you need to have practice with in order to succeed at taking the SAT test. The first is having a solid understanding of Mathematics. Graduating with a degree in Mathematics has greatly helped me in this area. The second is the strategy behind taking the SAT. I have done independent research on SAT strategy as well as taken a day long course by the company "2400" which has greatly increased my knowledge in how the SAT works.

Excellent teacher and very flexible

Luke thoroughly explains the concepts throughout the chapter and is very patient if she doesn’t understands right away. She has more confidence when completing her math assignments. She looks forward to tutoring lessons.

Knowledgeable, patient and engaging tutor!

My daughter had seen several tutors for AP calc and was unable to have any clarity and understanding until she had a session with Luke. Luke took the time to make sure she understood. She is now very confident with the material and ready for class. Thank you, Luke!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor with creative insights

Luke taught me how to organize complex data in Excel and design impactful charts to convey my message. Luke is easy going and always willing to put in extra work to help his students grasp their goals.

Great tutor

Luke did a great job working with Ally. They reviewed where she was at when she was last in school (mid December due to surgery) then moved on to the new lessons. He is very good at explaining the concepts. I think this will help Ally's confidence a lot!
