About Taylor

My name is Taylor and I'm a bachelor's to master's accelerated student at George Mason University. I'm currently in my final year of Undergrad and first year of Graduate school. I am getting degrees in History and Special Education with a minor in Applied Behavior Analysis. I also teach at the University. We have a program called the Mason LIFE program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. My experience teaching at the University has prepared me well in the area of differentiated instruction and multi-modal approaches. These are the ways that I teach and tutor so that students with all sorts of learning differences and approaches can get the very best education possible.

I love tutoring and teaching, My favorite moment is when students "get it." They work so hard and we as teachers and tutors do as well, so when their eyes light up and they connect the dots- all my hard work is worth it! I love to help students and connect with them in whatever way possible. My main realm of experience is Special Education students of all levels, with a wide variety of disabilities, specifically Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome.

I have taken American Sign Language for three years now. I can tutor in the basic levels of American Sign Language, vocabulary, and presentation feedback. I can also use American Sign Language to communicate with students.

I have taught English, both writing and literature, at the post-secondary level for individuals with Special Needs. I am able to provide support for all levels of English, including Advanced Placement and paper editing.

Many of my students have skills at the elementary or middle level, so I have a lot of experience in that area. I have taught several courses at the University in English- Phonics, Reading, Writing, etc., Math, and more. My key skills at the elementary level are providing fun, engaging activities that get students moving! Multiple activities that make learning fun are most important to me!

As a student with an undergraduate major in History, I have a lot of experience. Most of my background knowledge comes from 20th century history but I am able to tutor in other subject areas as well. I can also assist in paper preparation, research, and rehearsals for presentations.

I am getting my graduate degree in Special Education and my undergraduate minor in Applied Behavior Analysis. I have taken several courses in Special Education and have experience teaching special needs students in the post secondary setting.

I am so excited to continue my work with students. I love education and helping people learn!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
