I have a Masters and a degree in Secondary Education from Auburn University. I am a retired elementary school librarian (15 years experience). I have also taught English and Spanish at the middle school level. Reading is one of my passions, and I enjoy helping others improve their reading skills. My spelling, grammar and punctuation skills are excellent. I love working with children in small group or one-on-one sessions.
I am a firm believer that readers improve their comprehension and stamina with practice. Reading every day is one of the best ways to help a child become a better reader. A good reader is successful in other subjects as well, as reading and comprehension are the basis for learning many things.
I look forward to working with you or your child to help improve the skills needed to be successful in the world today! Please contact me with your tutoring needs and if you have any questions! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
