About Lateesha

Bio

I'm a former government-contracted employee who decided to follow my childhood dream of becoming a teacher 2 years ago.

I have been substitute teaching in the city of Virginia Beach for 2 years and I enjoy it. I mostly teach math, science, physical education and Spanish. I have an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Sociology, with an emphasis in Child Welfare. I have also taught yoga at the YMCA, as a substitute.

I'm fun, witty and have a gift for connecting with the youth. As a mother of 2, I am involved in their school activities and I am well-liked by teachers and students, alike

I take pride in everything that I do and I feel that I have a gift for teaching. My main goal is to help students to be successful and to reach their goals, as well.

I've always loved math and I have learned various methods for teaching different problems.

I took 3 years of Spanish in high school, 2 semesters of Spanish in college and I taught Spanish as a substitute for 7 weeks last school year.

I've always scored well on standardized tests and, as a sub, I have also learned some methods and strategies for test-taking success.

Although I am not certified, I was such a good student in my yoga classes, that my classmates urged me to teach whenever an instructor was unable to make it to class. Eventually, I was hired to teach on an as-needed basis.
