About Kevin

I have 16 years experience teaching elementary level students in public school. I have worked with special needs, gifted, remediation, homebound, and after-school groups. I am endorsed as a Reading Specialist and have worked with hundreds of students to help ensure their academic success. I love to teach and I love to make learning enjoyable for every student. I have mentored and tutored several students since leaving the teaching profession. I can work one-on-one or conduct online sessions.

The things I love the most about tutoring is reaching the needs of the student. There are a lot of reluctant, disengaged, frustrated students who deserve to have a teacher/tutor who genuinely cares about them and about their academic success. More often than not, the key to a student's long-term success centers around motivation. If I can find out what motivates a student, the student will learn.

I am an outstanding Math tutor because of my varied background experience working with all types of students. I understand the learning process and I know the needs of a struggling Math student. Having taught Math for 16 years, I know what it takes to motivate a reluctant learner, a struggling student, or a child who simply has the curiosity to know more.

I am an outstanding Common Core Tutor due to my 16 years of teaching Common Core.

I have 16 years of experience teaching Elementary Education to public school students from all backgrounds and learning styles. I have taught large groups, small groups, centers, remediation, gifted, Special Needs, LD, ED, ESL, autistic, and Lead students. I have worked with students in class, after school, homebound, online, and live one-on-one sessions. I can perform Reading and Math diagnostic testing and reach students right where they are. From there, we can work together to get that student to where they need to be.

If you are a struggling student, a struggling parent, or just looking for that extra push to get better results in school, I encourage you to contact me to learn more about my background and to see where we can get started. I am very flexible with your schedule.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
