Virginia Tech (Aerospace Engineerin)
Virginia Tech (Master's)
Virginia Tech (PhD)
Hello! I graduated from Virginia Tech with a PhD in Engineering Education and a B.S and M.S in Aerospace Engineering. I have been faculty with them for over five years, including the last three years as an adjunct faculty member. I teach introduction to aerospace engineering, introduction to ocean engineering, aircraft performance and naval architecture. I also taught experimental methods as a post doc. Prior to completing graduate school I was a high school substitute for algebra and other mathematics. I also served as a mentor for students considering college curriculum.
My current position is an Assistant Professor and Grant Specialist at ODU for the College of Engineering. I was prior enlisted and an officer with the Air Force and have both experience with the ASVAB and AFOQT. I scored in the 99th percentile on the ASVAB and had average scores in the 90s on the AFOQT. I have successfully mentored several airmen and students into Air Force programs. I also have several years of experience with navy and ocean engineering programs and would likely be able to coach those tests as well.
I scored over 1400 On the older version of the SAT, and have several years teaching high school math plus more than ten years advanced calculus at the college and graduate level.
I scored a perfect 6 on the GRE writing portion and over a 700 on the SAT writing module. I have extensive reading and writing experience through graduate education and have published more than 20 articles, including a national best dissertation award.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an Air Force officer for more than four years and completed the AFOQT with one shot and scored over 80 on all sections, including pilot. Most of my scores were over 93. I tutor airmen attempting to take the AFOQT through my position already and feel my PhD makes me more than qualified to assist in ten math and verbal portions.
College teaching and tutoring experience. Considerable experience with math at all levels.
I have more than 15 years experience in the Air Force, and have been a qualified professor for more than five years
I have a phd in aerospace engineering from Virginia Tech, the majority of which is mechanical engineering based. I have coursework in thermodynamics, statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials. I maintained a stellar gpa the entire time.
I completed my PhD in Engineering Education, much of which was in sociology and research methods. I focus on research methods and the social educational approach to learning. My background is on learning types and how to use those to better educate adults.
