About Brandi

As a youth intern I enjoyed teaching students life skills that were relevant to their issues. I used innovative techniques and activities that intrigued and challenged them. I have experience meeting one on one with adolescent girls where we would brainstorm and solve problems.

As a student I have always enjoyed learning. If I could be a student for a living and get paid I would! I feel like in a lot of ways tutoring is learning in that you are learning the student in order to teach them. Tutoring requires understanding the other person's patterns and behaviors in order to meet them where they are. The end goal is for the student to become independent of the tutor; this reflects that they truly understand the material.

My background in psychology (BA) and currently in school counseling (MA) give me the edge to understand adolescents thought processes and development. In my current master's program I am gaining experience in the field as well as learning in the classroom.

In my work as an intern for adolescent and college girls it was my job to seek and conduct various types of bible studies. My favorite types of bible studies were those that were one on one where the student and I could focus on tough questions and exciting finds. I have lead textual, topical, and devotional studies.

My minister who supervised over me as a college intern challenged us to understand other religions as well as our own. This spurred on an interest in me where I took undergraduate courses in Islamic History and Middle Eastern History, in order to better understand other religions. In my spare time I like to research other religions and enjoy teaching others how to.

Passion and education summarize my qualifications for these skills. I hope you will contact me if you have any interests being taught any of these skills that I have outlined. Thank you for reading.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
