Over the past 20 years I have taught students ages 3 through adult in corporate, traditional classroom and online settings. I have a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University that I obtained through their online degree program. I also have a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in management and minors in economics and international business.
I acquired a love for teaching as a college student working for the Dow Chemical Company in Midland, MI. I was tasked with training office professionals in Michigan, Texas and Louisiana computer software and Patent filing procedures. Over the next few years I honed my business, auditing, and customer service skills through corporate work in the mortgage and automotive finance industries.
I chose to adapt my career around my family as I began to have and raise my children. Over the next several years I designed Spanish classes for a preschool, art and gifted classes for elementary schools, and religious education classes for students in Kindergarten – 3rd grade. I also tutored elementary students in math and reading. My own children were reading by age 3 and have both worked their way through academy middle school programs within the Virginia Beach Public Schools.
I have developed whole business degree curriculums and developed and taught multiple business and management courses both for the traditional classroom environment at Tidewater Community College as well as for online courses at TCC and Centura Colleges. Having been a student and teacher of online learning, I truly understand what it takes to be successful in a non-traditional learning environment.
My greatest teaching joy comes from getting to know my students so that I can personalize their learning methods causing them to enjoy the learning process, achieve true understanding of the subject matter, and develop successful lifelong learning skills and study habits.

Right from the start, she developed a very personal approach with my daughter. She shows a loving, positive attitude in her work. There was an understanding of learning and in particular my daughter's own needs that she has brought with her. Can tell that she is exactly what my daughter needs.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I believe that my personal academic achievements as well as my children's academic achievements prove my ability to practice as well as teach study skills. I graduated from IWU with a 4.0 in my MBA program, and from Northwood University with a 3.7 in my BBA program. My oldest daughter maintained a 4.0 throughout her middle school years at an IB program, and currently holds the same grade point as a sophomore in high school. My youngest daughter is an 8th grader at an all gifted middle school and also maintains a 4.0.
