In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Thirty years plus of teaching included elementary students when I first taught. I had elementary classes on alternate days and taught middle school in Delaware on opposite days - - both in a very poor district.
I also had majors in science (biology, chemistry, ecology, and earth science) and writing and reading. For elementary students I was able to cover nearly every subject needed. I used adventure through lessons or experiments in class or using our ecological areas around the school. I drew each student into his own writing of adventures raising his own level of learning.
In my many years of teaching, I have always emphasized reading and writing skills as part of my lessons. Plus I bring the parents into the learning situation as on a zoo trip.
My background includes science, math, and English, all subjects that will fit well into educating a K-6th student.
I have also written 4 novels and numerous articles for educational magazines based on the unique lessons I built.
You need to tell me what levels your child is so I know how to work without your child working in areas not necessary.

Having coached track and basketball, teaching golf was more difficult since each student was an individual.
They had to learn technique not speed or brute power. This was difficult until they shared with each other my grip and body rotation.
Most important was the head which can not move. Hold a club end on the top, kept their head down and golf ball is hit.
I am a graduate of the University of Delaware where I majored in education, receiving certifications to teach English, biology, chemistry, and general science. I have written numerous articles for a variety of technology and science magazines.
