I currently teach fourth grade at a Norfolk elementary school. I have been employed with the district for going on 13 years. Teaching is my passion and I refuse to have any students on my watch fail to achieve all that they can be and do.
I am extremely qualified to prepare your child for in reading, writing, math as well as any content area. In reading we would focus on fluency, accuracy and thinking/reading strategies using different types of text. I also have access to many reading programs that measure progress.
I would love to assist your students to love to learn as well as succeed in these subjects. I taught second grade for 3 years and third for four years. I recently was moved to fourth grade after 5 years in fifth grade. One student came to me reading a grade behind but was already 2 years behind and she excelled in my class. She went on to earn straight A's by the fifth grade and was moved to her correct grade. Another of my greatest moments was when I learned my students scored 100 percent on their reading sols and 94 percent on their writing given that I had a wide range of levels in my classroom that year. I hope to hear from you and let me know if you have any questions. I currently teach fourth grade at a Norfolk elementary school. I have been employed with the district for going on 13 years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelor of arts in inter-divisional studies with a teaching certification. I have taught second grade for 4 years, third grade for 3 years and now I currently am teaching fifth grade. I love math, but I have had a lot of experience from the lower to upper grades in organizing student's thoughts and helping them to take their writing through the entire process.
I have taught not only for 10 years but 7 of those years I taught in a third grade classroom, both self contained as well as just content and math. My scores have always been above the district's no matter what type of class I had that year. Last year was my first year in fifth grade regular Ed and they received 100% on reading, 94% in writing. My scores were exemplary. I focus on thinking about your thinking!
