I have taught various Elementary and High School math subjects with great success, and I have tutored students preparing to take the SAT or GRE. The key to learning math is simple explanations and guided practice. My students have commented that I am patient and thorough.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a lifelong student of Astronomy. I have had university level courses in this field, and would very much enjoy sharing my love of the topic through tutoring. As a High School Physics teacher I am fully equipped to explain the principles and help with classwork.
I have tutored numerous children in elementary math. Some students pick up the fundamentals of math intuitively, while others need careful explanation and diligent practice. Therefore the key to successfully tutoring this subject is patience. I am very patient and friendly with the children I tutor, and have always had very good results.
I have tutored several High School students in Geometry and seen them achieve success in the subject. In my experience most students who struggle with geometry benefit from careful explanation of the principles being taught as well as diligent practice in problem solving. Many students who find the pace of a large class difficult to keep up with will blossom in math with a few months of tutoring.
I have taught philosophy at the high school level for several years. I have a thorough understanding of the topic. I am also working on my PhD in philosophy.
I have taught physics at the high school level for several years. I have a thorough understanding of the topic. I have had numerous students pass the course and have one who just earned his Master's in Physics at Virginia Tech.
I have taught Pre-algebra at the Middle/High School level for several years, and I have tutored several students as well. I have found that many students respond well to some patient one-on-one attention in math. Through simple explanations and repetitive problem solving your student can learn Pre-algebra, pass tests and raise their grades.
I have a Master's of Divinity and am nearly done with a PhD in Religious Studies. I have taught Comparative Religions for 12 years, as well as Biblical Studies and a variety of related courses at both the High School and College levels.
I have tutored several people in preparation for the math section of the SAT, and all have done very well. One young lady increased her math score by over 100 points after I had tutored her.
