George Mason University (Psychology)
I am a recent magna cum lade graduate of George Mason University, with a B.A. in Psychology. In addition to graduating with university honors, I also graduated with honors in Psychology. Throughout the past year and a half, I have worked on and successfully completed a master's-level Psychology Honors thesis. The work which I completed for my Honors thesis paralleled that which students complete in graduate school.
I was previously recommended by one of my English professors to be a writing tutor at George Mason University's writing center, and have received a couple of awards for my writing skills. Throughout my undergraduate career, I received the "Public Anthropology Award for Excellence in Writing on Public Issues with the Community Action Website," as well as being awarded “best paper” for a final paper in one of my Psychology courses.
I have always had advanced reading comprehension and writing skills, and have enjoyed assisting my fellow classmates, friends, and family in these subject areas. I spent three consecutive summers as a sleep away camp counselor, and also have experience in babysitting, so working with children, adolescents, and young adults is both a strength and passion of mine!
My areas of expertise include assisting with reading comprehension, proofreading, broadening one's vocabulary, and learning to better organize one's writing. Additionally, I can assist with a wide variety of essay writing, such as five paragraph essays, timed essays (SOL or SAT exams), research essays, and others. I am also available for longer-term tutoring to improve one's general writing skills. As a Psychology major, I can help prepare students in this subject by aiding in the understanding of theories, concepts, vocabulary, and other psychology-related topics.
Please contact me if you have further questions about my tutoring services or scheduling. I look forward to helping you grow in your writing, reading, and psychology skills! Jeremiah interacted with Sophia well and it seemed as if he enjoyed having her as a teacher. She was able to correct him and he understood the corrections.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
