In college I realized that Math and Music are closely related as I earned bachelor's degrees in both Music and Engineering. Now I am a professional engineer and father of three. It was while working as a consulting engineering doing free tutoring for a middle school that I realized how much I love helping young people understand these concepts. I enjoyed that so much I did it for the last three years I worked for that firm, coordinating the program for the last year. I worked with dozens of students during that time.

As a homeschooling father I have spent a lot of time working with my children on their schoolwork, as well as mentoring junior engineers as part of my job duties. I am looking forward to helping students connect with the areas that are giving them struggles. I've found that oftentimes the only limitations are in our own heads, and once we get over ourselves it comes much easier. My own children are a great example of that as I worked alongside their piano teachers to help open the world of music to them.

In addition to all the math courses I took as part of my undergraduate engineering degree, I use all sorts of math as part of my engineering profession. My avocation is music, and my first degree is a B.A. in music, including a full slate of music theory study. As a band member, I use music theory all the time to excel in my performances.

I love children of all ages, and look forward to working with you or your young one to help them find their way academically. All I ask is an open mind to the idea that math and music are both things that can be understood by everyone!
