I am an engineer and a homeschool dad with a strong passion for teaching or tutoring others to succeed in their work or studies. I believe imparting knowledge to others is a lifelong investment in people and an important contribution to society. I have taught and tutored many students including friends and family in various capacities for several years, and every success story has been a delightful experience and encouragement for me.
My teaching experience includes but not limited to a year of teaching 10th grade math, and two years as a teaching assistant for a freshman year course in materials engineering. My tutoring experience span several years, particularly in math and occasionally in Chemistry and English Composition. A recent experience was tutoring my oldest son in Algebra 1 and 2 and AP Chemistry. I will tutor him in calculus, and my three younger children in math and sciences this term. I also coach 13-year through 18-year olds in speech and debate, an activity which I began two years ago.
I provide hourly tutoring service in math for middle, high school and community college students.
My goal is to help every student excel in their studies. I will accomplish this by listening to each student's needs and cater my tutoring style to fit the needs. I am generally available on weekdays from 6 pm to 9 pm and daylight on Saturdays. I can travel to students or be available online. My base rate is $35/hour for in person and $30/hour for online. Contact me for further details.
I look forward to hearing from you to discuss your specific needs and helping you achieve in your studies. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I tutored my sixteen-year old son in Algebra I.
