About Stephanie

Hello! I specialize in working with students who have ADHD, Mild Learning Disabilities, and Executive Function Issues. I received my BA in Economics from the University of the Pacific with a 3.97 GPA and was awarded Economics Department Student of the year upon graduation.

I am available to tutor phonics, number sense, elementary and middle school core curriculum, study skills, organizational skills, SAT and ACT test prep. I base my lessons in the Orton Gillingham multi-sensory approach and am experienced in programs such as EIRM and Wilson Reading System. I have designed educational coaching programs for in-home tutoring companies and been a tutor trainer. I am very experienced in working with AD/HD population and familiar with all aspects of executive function. I am a member of CHADD, have written articles for their magazine Attention and hold certifications in AD/HD from the Institute for Challenging Disorganization.

I use a multi-sensory approach to learning and strongly believe that it is our job as the educations to make the content relevant and accessible to our students. I worked at the Center for Learning in California for many years where I coordinated a private learning center on campus at a local school. This means that I have extensive experience in communicating with teachers, understanding classroom expectations, and also working with students one-on-one. I was also involved in process of testing students for learning disabilities and developing educational plans for them based on their specific strengths and struggles. This allows me to be better able to spot, understand, and help to solve problems with learning beyond simple content struggles.

I am also a Certified Professional Organizer and Productivity Consultant so I know how struggles in school can impact a person later in their adult life. I know that learning strong foundational skills and strategies at a young age will benefit people throughout their entire lifetime. I like to have fun in my sessions, I have high expectations for each of my students, and am generally flexible and accommodating with scheduling changes.

Please reach out and let me know how I can help your child succeed!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
