About Brent

As a public policy adviser for 20 years, I've advised governors, legislators and other senior officials on making wise policy decisions. In this role, I've benefited from a mastery of quantitative analysis and a pragmatic understanding of how influence is best achieved.

I took algebra beginning in 5th grade and scored an 800 on the math section of my SAT (and 790 on the similar section of the GRE). Algebra provides a solid foundation for important aspects of business and life for years to come. Writing concisely and effectively is also important, as technical knowledge needs to be distilled into a comprehensible summary for decision makers. My work also requires proactive responses to stress similar to those of SAT or ACT preparation; as a former budget director for a large fiscally distressed American city, I understand how to achieve success under pressure.

I enjoy helping students learn well the subjects I teach, and I look forward to sharing this passion with your family. But don't expect a quick fix (one student who expected such a fix provided me both my one-star ratings). If you work diligently alongside me over time, you'll achieve your academic goals with confidence.

Brent is a great motivator, and my son went from F to A. — Brent structured studies with my 13 year old son based on my son's personal style of learning. His individual approach was the key that brought fast improvement of grades. Brent taught the main concept that allowed him to solve many similar problems, rather then repeatedly making him follow steps without understanding. My son has a very short attention span and gets bored instantly, so it is impo ...
