I just completed my fourteenth year as a high school educator and hold dual licensure in English Literature and Theatre Arts in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, having taught both standard and honors classes in each subject area. My experience is especially strong in British literature, poetry, writing, and dramatic literature, supported by a Master of Arts degree from the University of Birmingham’s Shakespeare Institute (UK) and a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, with concentrations in English Literature and Theatre Arts. I also have considerable experience with theatre arts curriculum (acting, directing, theatre history), individual performance training, and the technical aspects of stage design and production. I have recently moved to Virginia to teach at the college level and pursue an MFA degree in Shakespeare and Performance.

I am committed to quality education and am very interested in discussing how my skills can meet your needs. I would like to help prepare you for a successful college experience!

Theater

I have teaching certification to teach K-12 theatre arts classes in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I have taught honors and non-honors for the past 14 years. I have directed nearly 50 drama/comedy/musical productions. Some of my former students were admitted to the top theatre college programs, with some involved in professional entertainment.

Business

Business

Before my 14 year career as a high school English and Theatre Arts teacher, I worked in university administration (MIT and Tufts) and high tech (Digital Equipment Corporation, Sybase, Oracle, Digitas). My high tech positions were in consulting, project management, and global partner management; I was VP level in my last high tech position. I also owned a tech start-up for WI-FI in the early 2000s. I taught undergraduate and graduate business courses on management and career development at Cambridge College and Boston University.

Public Speaking

I have developed curriculum and taught public speaking at the high school level. As a theater arts teacher, I regularly teach speech fundamentals, rhetoric, and good speaking principles to my students (part of the curriculum for my acting classes). I was hired and contracted by Eastern Nazarene College to teach a public speaking course, but was unable to teach at the scheduled times (I prepped and planned the course from syllabus to individual lessons). During my nearly 20 year pre-teaching career in higher education and the high tech industry, I regularly spoke at conferences and before upper level executives (CEO, CFO, CIO, etc.).
